The cost of shipping depends on various factors, including the size and weight of the artwork, the distance, and the necessary packaging materials. Our prices are transparent and always include custom packaging and door-to-door delivery.

How Much Does It Cost to Ship an Artwork? – Transparent Pricing at Moviiu

Our smart online tool determines the lowest transport price for your artwork within a minute. Once the price is determined, you can immediately book the transport and create your customer account to manage all shipments and download documents such as invoices. Our shipping process starts after payment with the production of your custom shipping box. Alternatively, you can also request transport directly through our staff.

The prices in this table serve as a guideline for our pricing. The exact price depends on the volumetric weight and format of the package and the distance of the transport.* This means that the smaller the volume and the shorter the distance of your shipment, the cheaper the art transport.**

 

What Services Are Included in the Quoted Price? – All About Our Service

Our offer includes more than just the pure transport. The price includes:

• Custom packaging to optimally protect your artwork
• Door-to-door delivery, ensuring your artwork arrives safely and directly at the destination
• Export processing (in Germany, including the preparation of customs documents for goods over 1,000 EUR with destinations outside the EU)
• Dedicated customer service to support any questions regarding art transport

Our online offer prices cover the essential services of art transport, but there are some costs that are charged separately:

• Insurance: Optionally available, 1% of the value of the goods, at least 25 EUR, covering up to a value of 100,000 EUR
• Import duties: Based on the value and taxes and duties of the import country, charged by our transport partner before delivery
• White-Glove Pickup: Available in selected cities such as Paris, Berlin, Geneva, Basel, and Zurich for an additional fee

 

Can the Price for Transport Change Afterwards?

The price you receive through our online tool is final and guaranteed. Please note that we must adjust the price if dimensions, weight, commercial value, pickup, or delivery address do not match the information you provided.

 

Customs and Import: How International Art Transport Works with Moviiu

Moviiu not only safely brings your artworks and valuables door-to-door within European and non-European countries. If you want to ship an artwork from an EU country to a country outside the EU, import duties are usually incurred. Don’t worry; at Moviiu, we take care of all bureaucratic formalities and create all the documents needed for export and import, so that everything passes through customs smoothly, and you can hand over your international shipments worry-free.

Customs clearance is handled directly by our transport partners. Based on your information, we create a pro forma invoice, which serves the customs for calculating any import duties. The amount is based on the import duties of the respective country. These duties are not included in our transport price and must be paid directly to the transport partner before the package is delivered. The transport partner will notify you of the amount and payment of the duties in a separate message.

Please note that temporary exports/imports are not yet possible at the moment. We are currently working on offering this service in the future.

 

How Moviiu Prices Are Composed:

Packaging: Our packaging is specially designed for the transport of fragile and valuable artworks and objects with courier services and consists of robust materials. As a bulk purchaser, we benefit from favorable prices, which we pass directly on to our customers.

Transport: We select the most renowned transport companies for this purpose. Due to our large volume, we receive some of the best prices on the market, which our customers also benefit from. The total transport costs depend on the size, weight, and origin/destination. And of course, on any additional services such as our White-Glove Service.

Art Handling and Packaging: Our packaging is made by professional art handlers who have expertise and experience in the safe transport of artworks and handle the artworks properly during packaging. It may cost a bit more, but your artworks are in safe hands. We make no compromises here.

The Moviiu Insurance: Our insurance is an all-risk insurance that covers up to a value of 100,000 EUR at 100% and, unlike other transport companies, includes no deductible. This means our insurance delivers what it promises should damage occur. The amount of insurance coverage is linked to the value of the artwork and is calculated at 1% of the value, at least 25 EUR.

White-Glove Pickup: Leave the Art Handling to the Pros: We make no compromises on the quality of our transport processing! If you prefer to have your objects professionally packed and unpacked or need help with the installation of your artworks, our White-Glove Service is the right choice. As with the packaging, we select suppliers for our pickups based on strict quality criteria. We work with renowned companies, such as Art Handling Spedition in Berlin, Chenue in Paris, Natural le Coultre and Rodolphe Haller in Geneva. This allows us to guarantee high quality through trained staff, professional art handlers, and experienced logistics processing. The price depends on the country.
