How can I track my shipment?
Once your artwork has been picked up by our transport partners – DHL Express, FedEx, or UPS – both you and the recipient will receive a notification with the tracking number. Simply click on the link to view the real-time status of your shipment.
You can also track your shipment anytime via your customer account. Just navigate to “My Transports” to stay updated on your artwork’s journey.
Can I request a specific delivery date or a guaranteed delivery deadline for my item?
When generating a quote, we provide an estimated transit time for your shipment. We primarily use express delivery services with our logistics partners DHL Express, FedEx, and UPS to ensure the fastest possible shipping. However, please note that the actual delivery time depends on various factors, such as how quickly the artwork is packed and scheduled for pickup, as well as whether customs duties are promptly paid by the recipient.
If you have specific delivery requirements – such as a fixed delivery date or a “delivery by” deadline – please contact us before confirming your shipment. We will assess feasibility and discuss possible upgrade options to meet your needs.
How does the delivery work?
Once your shipment is on its way, the recipient will receive a real-time notification from our logistics partners (DHL Express, FedEx, or UPS) with the scheduled delivery date and time window. If the recipient is unavailable at the time of delivery, they can easily reschedule for a new delivery date, but only after the first failed attempt, using the carrier’s notification system.
Parcel delivery requires the recipient’s signature to ensure a secure and direct handover.
What should I know about customs clearance for artworks? How can it affect my delivery time?
For cross-border shipments (e.g., from Switzerland or from the EU to non-EU countries), artworks must be cleared by customs. To ensure a smooth customs process, we provide a proforma invoice with all required details.
However, certain artworks may require special documentation or permits based on the regulations of the destination country. If customs requests additional information, the speed at which the recipient provides these details is crucial to avoid delays.
Customs clearance is managed directly by our logistics partners, such as DHL Express, FedEx, or UPS. Once the shipment arrives in the destination country, the carrier will contact the recipient regarding any applicable import duties and taxes. They will provide a payment link, and the shipment will only be delivered once these charges have been settled.
If the import duties are not paid or the recipient refuses to pay, the shipment will be returned to the sender. Any additional costs incurred for the return transport will be charged to the invoice holder.
How do I pay VAT and customs fees?
Once your local customs office has assessed any applicable VAT and customs fees, you will receive an email notification from our logistics partner with instructions on how to pay them before delivery.
The available payment methods for customs fees depend on the destination country and local regulations. In most cases, you can pay by credit card or bank transfer before the shipment is released for delivery.

Transport Insurance
Moviiu’s Ad Valorem transport insurance protects your artwork from pick-up to delivery with no excess in the event of damage. Simply select the “Transport Insurance” option when creating your online quote. We offer coverage for artworks up to EUR 100,000 and jewelry up to EUR 10,000. The cost of transport insurance is 1% of the item value (minimum EUR 20).
After booking, you will receive confirmation that your art transport is insured. If you require an insurance certificate, please email us at info@moviiu.com.
Please note that insurance is only available for shipments using Moviiu’s secure transport packaging. Unfortunately, we cannot insure items packed in your own packaging.
In the event of damage, you must notify us within 72 hours of delivery by emailing info@moviiu.com. Please include photos of the damage, photos of the damaged packaging, and—if already available—a detailed restoration cost estimate. Once all required documents have been submitted, the insurance company will contact you within 15 days.
What is the difference between “Door-to-Door” and “White-Glove” delivery?
We offer various delivery options tailored to your budget, needs, and the destination of your shipment:
“Door-to-Door” Delivery
Your packed artwork will be picked up directly by one of our established logistics partners, such as DHL Express, FedEx, or UPS, and delivered to the recipient’s doorstep. This delivery option ensures the fastest possible art transport from start to finish.
“White-Glove” Pickup
With this premium service, our art handlers will personally collect your artwork from your location and transport it to our warehouse, where it will be carefully prepared for shipment with one of our logistics partners (DHL Express, FedEx, UPS). Please note that this service is currently available only in Germany, France, and Switzerland, specifically in the following cities: Paris, Geneva, Lausanne, Bern, Basel, Zurich, Berlin, Düsseldorf, Cologne, and Munich.
“White-Glove” Delivery
This premium service ensures that your artwork is delivered directly to its final destination by experienced art handlers. The transport is first carried out by one of our logistics partners (DHL Express, FedEx, UPS) to the warehouse of one of our 17 sister companies, located in over 22 cities across 4 continents. Once at the destination, your artwork will be delivered by specialized art handlers from our sister companies and, if needed, installed. Contact us to check availability in your city.
Can I book a specialized art transport with Moviiu?
As part of a global network of 17 art logistics companies, located on 4 continents in over 22 cities, we offer a variety of transport options tailored to the specific needs of your artwork. Our highly specialized sister companies ensure that your artworks are transported securely and under optimal conditions.
This includes climate-controlled transport vehicles to regulate temperature and humidity, which is especially important for delicate artworks such as paintings, sculptures, or works on paper. Our vehicles are equipped with air suspension to minimize vibrations and shocks that could damage fragile artworks.
Additionally, we provide GPS tracking and alarm systems for the secure transport of high-value or precious artworks, preventing theft or loss. For the transport of artworks, we also offer custom-made packaging such as wooden crates with padding or climate boxes, to protect your artwork from external influences and ensure its stability across different climates.
If your artwork needs to cross international borders, we handle the entire customs clearance process and accompany the transport with the necessary export/import permits. We do not offer transportation services for art fairs or exhibitions. Our focus is on the secure and efficient transport of individual artworks, with the option to ship up to two pieces in one package.

Our digital platform is designed to provide instant quotes for most shipments. However, there are certain cases where an instant quote may not be available:
- Incomplete information: Ensure all mandatory fields are correctly filled out.
- Invalid address: Double-check that both the pick-up and delivery addresses are accurate.
- Unavailable destinations: While we offer worldwide coverage, some locations may not yet be included in our system.
- Non-standard dimensions or weight: Our platform continuously evolves to accommodate a wider range of objects, but exceptionally large or heavy items may require a manual quote.

How do I confirm my quote?
Confirming your art transport quote with Moviiu is fast and easy:
- If you received an instant quote via email or generated one yourself on our website, simply review all details and proceed by clicking “Validate this shipment”. Then, select “Pay with Card”, and you’ll be redirected to our secure payment provider, Stripe, where you can easily complete your payment using a credit card.
- Once payment is processed, you’ll receive a confirmation email, and our team will immediately begin handling your shipment.
If you want to manage multiple shipments or collaborate with Moviiu long-term, you can create a free Moviiu account. This will allow you to manage quotes and orders, track shipments, and access invoices and customs documents – all in one place. What dimensions should I provide when requesting a quote?
To ensure secure art transport and avoid price adjustments after payment, it is essential to provide accurate dimensions when submitting a quote request via our online platform or through our team.
There are two scenarios:
- Your artwork is unpacked and requires Moviiu’s secure transport packaging: Enter the precise dimensions (height × width × depth in cm) and weight (in kg) of the artwork, including the frame if applicable. Based on this information, our platform will determine the appropriate packaging and correct shipping costs.
- Your artwork is already packaged: If your item is packed (either in a cardboard box or a wooden crate), please provide the precise external dimensions (height × width × depth in cm) and weight (in kg) of the box or crate. This ensures our system calculates the correct shipping cost.
Providing accurate measurements is crucial, as incorrect dimensions may result in unsuitable packaging or additional costs. If the actual size exceeds the dimensions provided, the selected packaging may not be usable.
What items are not eligible for instant quotes?
Certain artworks and items require special handling due to their fragility or size, and are therefore not eligible for an instant quote through our platform. In these cases, we recommend contacting a Moviiu representative to discuss the specific requirements and receive a personalized estimate. These items include:
- Very fragile items: Such as porcelain, glassware, terracotta, fine wines, marble, jade, ivory, and similar delicate goods.
- Very large items: For artworks or sculptures that exceed the standard dimensions of our quoting tool (paintings & prints: up to 180 × 147 × 25 cm; sculptures & objects: up to 104 × 60 × 57 cm), we are still able to handle the transport. What is the delivery time for my packaging?
Any order placed by 1pm (UTC +1) is processed and shipped on the same day. This does not apply to bespoke packaging which is shipped within a day of placing your order.

We limit our notifications to the most essential updates regarding your art transport. These include:

- Delivery notification
In addition, our transport partners UPS, FedEx, and DHL Express will send you important updates, such as customs clearance procedures, import duty payments, and the scheduled delivery date. This ensures you can plan ahead and personally receive your shipment if needed.
You can always access all the information about your ongoing art shipments directly through your Moviiu account. Simply log in to your account and access your dashboard or the “Transports” section to check the current status of your shipment.

How do I delete my account?
To delete your Moviiu account, simply send us an email to info@moviiu.com with your request. We will deactivate your account and proceed to delete all associated data in accordance with our privacy policy and current data protection regulations.
Please note that once your data is deleted, it cannot be recovered. This includes personal information, your transport history, and any other elements linked to your account. If you wish to keep any data, we recommend downloading or saving it before submitting your request.

How do I know if my item is sufficiently packaged?
Our digital platform offers a practical and reliable solution to ensure your item is properly packaged for safe art transport. Based on the weight and dimensions you provide, we determine the correct size of Moviiu’s customized packaging. This includes all the necessary protective materials for optimal safety, giving you complete peace of mind during shipment. Our boxes are made of triple-reinforced cardboard and are lined with foam on all sides to protect your artwork from shocks and vibrations.
If you already have a wooden crate or a cardboard box for shipping, we do not provide additional packaging. In that case, you can simply print the provided waybill, attach it to the crate, and arrange for the collection of your artwork directly from the specified address via your account. Please note that we cannot offer you transport insurance if you ship in your own box/crate.
Which items and/or sizes require bespoke packaging?
Our standard packaging solutions are designed for items up to the following sizes:
- Paintings & Prints: Up to 180 × 147 × 25 cm
- Sculptures & Objects: Up to 104 × 60 × 57 cm
For items within these dimensions, our custom-fit cardboard boxes are tailored specifically to the size of your artwork, ensuring secure art transport. For larger artworks, we can still use our standard packaging in many cases, but a manual quote is required due to the size and weight of the item.
Bespoke packaging is required for:
- Very Large Items: For oversized artworks or sculptures that exceed our packaging limitations, we assess each case individually. While we can sometimes accommodate these items with standard packaging, very large objects often require specialized solutions. In these cases, bespoke packaging may include wooden crates or other solutions tailored to the specific needs of the artwork.
- Fragile Items: For delicate or fragile items, such as porcelain, glassware, marble, jade, and similar artworks, we recommend bespoke packaging such as wooden crates to ensure the maximum protection during transport. These items require more secure handling than our standard cardboard boxes can provide.

Can I order packaging only (without transport)?

In your email, please provide us with details such as the dimensions, weight, and nature of the item you intend to pack, so we can ensure your artwork is protected with the same reliability and expertise that we apply to our all-in-one art transport.
What’s the “White Glove Collection” service?
If you prefer not to pack your artwork yourself, our “White Glove collection” service offers a complete solution. A team of skilled technicians will come directly to your location to pick up your artwork. They will bring it to our storage facility, where the artwork will be remeasured, a custom-made transport box will be created, and the artwork will be packed securely. Once everything is ready, we will arrange the shipment and send your artwork to its destination.
We ensure that your artwork is carefully prepared and handled throughout the entire process, giving you peace of mind that everything is taken care of.
My artwork already comes with packaging, but it's not a wooden crate – what do I do?
If your artwork is already packed in cardboard or another type of packaging, please provide us with the dimensions of the current packaging. We will place it directly inside the appropriate Moviiu packaging.
However, it’s important that the artwork is securely packed within its original packaging, ensuring that it cannot move. If the artwork is not tightly secured or if there is any movement inside the original packaging, we cannot guarantee the safety of the transport.

How can I pay for my art transport?
Paying for your art transport is simple and secure. Once you have entered all the necessary details to receive a shipping quote, you will need to confirm the quote to proceed. You will then be redirected to our secure payment provider, Stripe, where you can conveniently pay by credit card.
We recommend direct payment via Stripe to ensure fast processing of your shipment. If you prefer to pay by invoice, please contact us at info@moviiu.com. Please note that we will only begin processing your shipment once we have received the payment.
Which payment methods and currencies do you accept?
We offer two secure payment options for your art shipment:
- Credit card payment via Stripe
- Bank transfer (shipment is confirmed once payment has been received in our bank account, usually within 2-3 days)
We currently accept payments in EUR, CHF, GBP, and USD. As our international presence grows, we are continuously working on expanding the range of available currencies.
Is card payment secure?
Yes, absolutely. Your card details are fully encrypted and never stored.
All credit card payments are processed securely through Stripe (www.stripe.com), one of the world’s most trusted online payment providers. No matter which payment method you choose, we never have access to your bank details, ensuring maximum security for your transaction.
Payment issue – What should I do and who can I contact?
If your credit card payment is declined, it may be due to security verification by your bank. Stripe, our payment provider, sometimes redirects transactions for identity confirmation. If this process is interrupted or fails, the payment is automatically canceled for security reasons.

Where can I find my invoice?
Once your payment has been processed, you can download your invoice directly from your customer account under “My Transports.” Additionally, a copy will be sent to you via email for your records.

Can I pay after delivery?
For one-time shipments, payment is required in advance before we can organize and process your transport. However, if you require regular shipping services and meet a certain shipment volume, please contact us at info@moviiu.com to discuss possible payment solutions.
Until when can I cancel a booked art transport?
To receive a full refund for your art transport, you must contact us via email at info@moviiu.com as soon as possible after confirming and paying for your order. Refund eligibility depends on the following two scenarios:
1. Art Transport with Your Own Packaging:
You can cancel your shipment at any time as long as the pick-up has not been scheduled. In this case, you will receive a full refund without any fees.
2. Art Transport with Moviiu Packaging:
We start processing your shipment as soon as we receive the order. If packaging has not yet been produced, we can cancel the shipment and issue a full refund. If the packaging has already been produced, we can only partially reimburse you for the shipping fees, but not for the cost of the packaging.
Please note that once the packaging has been shipped or the pick-up is scheduled, cancellations and refunds will no longer be possible.

Please note that customs duties for cross-border shipments (outside Switzerland or the EU) are not included in the transportation price. Taxes and import duties will be charged separately by our transport partners before delivery to the destination.
What does the price not include?
While Moviiu’s quoted prices cover transport services, certain charges are not included:
1. Customs Duties and International VAT
For shipments crossing borders outside the EU or Switzerland, customs duties, local taxes, or VAT in the destination country may apply. These charges are determined by local regulations and are not included in the initial price.
These fees are typically charged before delivery by our transportation partners directly to the recipient. The shipment will only be delivered once the import fees have been paid.
2. DAT (Delivered At Terminal) Delivery
In some countries, local legislation requires DAT delivery. This means the shipment stops at the destination terminal, and customs clearance as well as final delivery must be arranged by a local agent or the recipient. In such cases, the quoted price is adjusted accordingly and will clearly specify these terms.

Once this information is provided, our intelligent quoting system compares rates from our three partner carriers to ensure you receive the best price.

Could your shipping fee change after confirmation and payment?
The quoted price includes transport from the pick-up location to the final destination, as well as any additional services you select. However, Moviiu may need to adjust the price in the following cases:
- Incorrect dimensions, weight, or declared value provided when confirming the quote.
- Incorrect pick-up or delivery address.
- Any changes made after the quote is confirmed and payment is processed that affect the order.
To ensure the fastest delivery times, Moviiu will initiate the production and shipment of your packaging as soon as the payment is received. It’s important for customers to provide accurate information during the quoting process, as any discrepancies may impact the shipment process and the final cost.

What happens after confirmation and payment of the shipment? What are the next steps?
With our smart shipping solution for art, we have developed an optimized process to ensure fast and seamless art transportation. Whether you’re shipping a painting, sculpture, or valuable collectible, here are the key steps:
1. Confirmation and payment of your shipment
Once your art shipment is booked and paid for via the provided payment link, we initiate the process.
2. Preparation and shipment of custom transport packaging
Our art handlers will create customized packaging tailored to your artwork. At the same time, we will prepare all necessary documents for a smooth customs clearance process. This includes a standardized proforma invoice containing all relevant details. If shipping from Germany to a non-EU country, we will also provide the export document (ABD). This process takes up to two days, and you will be notified as soon as your empty packaging is on its way.
3. Securely packing your artwork
Once you receive your secure transport packaging, it’s time for you to pack your artwork. Simply place your piece inside the box and seal it with the provided adhesive strips – no additional materials are needed.

4. Pickup and transport
Click the link in the email notification or log into your account to schedule the pickup. Depending on your booking time, your artwork will be collected on the same day or the next day by our transport partners DHL Express, FedEx, or UPS.
5. Real-time shipment tracking
Once your artwork has been picked up, you will receive a notification with the tracking number. You can also track the shipment’s status anytime, from any device, via your account.
6. Delivery and completion of your shipment
As soon as your artwork has been delivered, you will receive a final delivery confirmation. We recommend checking the package immediately to ensure everything has arrived safely.
How can I change or update the address or contact details after confirming a shipment?
If you need to modify your shipping address or contact information after confirming a shipment, please email us at info@moviiu.com as soon as possible.
Since our art shipping process is highly automated to ensure the fastest and most secure delivery, changes may not always be possible once the shipment is in progress. Additionally, modifications may result in extra charges, depending on the stage of your shipment.
Can I choose the pickup date for my package?
The pickup usually takes place on the same day or the next day, depending on your booking time. You can easily schedule it via the link in your notification or directly through your customer account.
If you prefer a later pickup date, you have two options:
- Simply wait to schedule your pickup at a later time.

1. Pick-up by our experienced art handlers (“White Glove Pickup”)
For artworks requiring delicate handling and specialized care, our White Glove Pickup service provides a premium art logistics solution. Our professional art handlers personally collect the artwork from your location, transport it to our secure art storage facility, and carefully pack it in our customized, protective transport packaging. From there, the shipment is dispatched via our trusted logistics partners DHL Express, FedEx, or UPS, ensuring safe, fast and efficient fine art shipping.
2. Pick-up by our transportation partners
If you prefer a direct pick-up, our logistics partners DHL Express, FedEx, or UPS will collect your pre-packed artwork from your location. Please note that pick-ups usually take place in the afternoon during standard business hours. You can schedule this via the link in the notification or through your customer account.
3. Secure artwork delivery by our transportation partners
Once your shipment is out for delivery, the recipient will receive a real-time notification from DHL Express, FedEx, or UPS, including the scheduled delivery date and time window. If the recipient is unavailable at the time of delivery, they can easily reschedule a new delivery date after one failed attempt using the carrier’s notification system.
How can I track my shipment?
Once your artwork has been picked up by our transport partners – DHL Express, FedEx, or UPS – both you and the recipient will receive a notification with the tracking number. Simply click on the link to view the real-time status of your shipment.
You can also track your shipment anytime via your customer account. Just navigate to “My Transports” to stay updated on your artwork’s journey.
How does customs clearance work for artworks? What customs duties apply?
When transporting artworks internationally, customs duties and import taxes may apply, depending on the destination. This is particularly relevant for shipments from Switzerland to other countries or from the EU to non-EU countries. To ensure a smooth art transport process, we create a proforma invoice with the required details for customs clearance.
Customs clearance is managed directly by our transportation partners, such as DHL Express, FedEx, or UPS. Once the shipment arrives in the destination country, the carrier will contact the recipient regarding any applicable import charges. They provide a payment link, and delivery occurs only once these charges have been settled.
For shipments to the United States, it is important that the recipient provides either a Social Security Number (SSN) for individual imports or an Employer Identification Number (EIN) for imports made on behalf of a company.
Please note that we are unable to provide estimates for customs duties and taxes, as these vary based on the regulations of the destination country. These typically include the local VAT rate, customs processing fees, and import duties, which depend on the nature and value of the artwork.
What is your cancellation policy?
We understand that plans can change, and we strive to make the cancellation process as simple and stress-free as possible. As long as your customized packaging has not yet been produced and your artwork has not yet been shipped, you can cancel your shipment and receive a full 100% refund.
Please note that once payment is received, we immediately begin processing your shipment to ensure a fast and secure art transport. If the production of your packaging has already started, you may only be eligible for a partial reimbursement of the shipping fees.
