For an artist or a gallery, packing is nevertheless often seen as a major constraint: finding the right container, piling on layers of bubble wrap, wrestling with tape and improvising cushioning takes up valuable time and clutters up the studio.

Moviiu engineering vs the market: why our packaging is unique

To travel safely through global express transport networks, an ordinary cardboard box is not enough. Most standard solutions on the market expose your works to major risks in transit. We have developed a made-to-measure packaging system that outperforms professional standards on every critical point:

• An ultra-strong outer structure: high-density triple wall vs standard cardboard

Most standard packaging relies on generic, low-rigidity boxes. Under the pressure of stacking in trucks or in the event of a knock, a standard box bends, crushes and offers little resistance to direct impact. Moviiu boxes, by contrast, are custom made from high-density triple wall corrugated board. Layering three sets of flutes multiplies mechanical rigidity and creates a genuine structural shell.

• Smart cushioning fitted to the work

On the conventional market, an ill-fitting box leaves empty space or calls for large amounts of makeshift cushioning that collapses under vibration, letting the work shift and its corners take the pressure. The inside of our packaging combines high-resilience shock-absorbing foam with modular corner profiles. All our packaging is made to the exact dimensions of the piece so that no empty space is left, the work is held snugly at the centre of the parcel and effectively protected against shock waves (thermoformed air cushions complete the system for three-dimensional pieces).

• “Glass & Paint” protection in Tyvek

Placing plastic or standard bubble wrap directly against the surface of a canvas or a frame can leave marks where it sticks, or create risks linked to condensation. To prevent this, every Moviiu kit includes a Tyvek film, a soft, chemically neutral and breathable material. Wrapped gently around the work, it keeps the most fragile surfaces intact, such as varnishes and fine art prints.

• Safety & convenience: built-in seal & opening without a cutter

Closing a conventional parcel takes several metres of tape, slow to apply and sometimes not very strong. On arrival, the recipient has to handle a cutter right next to the work, at the risk of a clumsy slip of the blade. Our packaging features professional, very high-tack adhesive strips for a tamper-proof seal. Thanks to the corner profiles and the internal layout, opening is simple and quick, with no sharp tool ever coming near the contents.

How a shipment works: autonomy under control

We have turned traditional logistics around: you no longer have to adapt to the carrier’s constraints, the perfect packaging comes to you. By handing you the keys to our engineering, we let you pack your pieces in under 5 minutes, entirely on your own.

1. Configuration and automatic paperwork: You enter the dimensions of your work on our platform. Our system determines the ideal configuration and automatically generates the packaging, the transit labels and all customs documents for international shipments.

2. Delivery of the complete kit: You receive your ready-to-use Moviiu kit directly at your studio or gallery. All labels and tracking slips are already printed and applied to the box. Zero paperwork, zero printing.

3. Secure boxing (in 5 minutes): You wrap the work in its Tyvek sleeve, place it on the shock-absorbing foam, adjust the modular retaining corners, peel the film off the built-in adhesive and close the box. It is sealed.

4. Shipping & real-time tracking: The carrier collects the sealed parcel. You and your recipient follow its progress step by step, through to final hand delivery.
